Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of machines to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as reasoning, learning, and decision making. AI has been advancing rapidly in recent years, thanks to the availability of large amounts of data, powerful computing resources, and innovative algorithms. AI has the potential to transform various domains of human activity, including education.
Education is a fundamental human right and a key driver of social and economic development. However, many challenges remain in providing quality and equitable education for all, especially in the face of the changing demands of the 21st century. AI can offer new opportunities and solutions for addressing some of these challenges, but also pose new risks and ethical dilemmas. In this essay, I will discuss some of the main impacts of AI on traditional education models, as well as some of the opportunities and challenges for educators and learners in the AI era.

Traditional school learning models often involve students sitting in a classroom and listening to lectures from a teacher. Homework and assignments are typically given as a way to reinforce material covered in class. Regardless of competence, generally speaking, everyone has to do the same thing¹.
